What this bill would do
This Act, known as the "Government Audit and Accountability of Federally Funded State-Administered Programs Act," requires the Comptroller General to evaluate how Federal funds are managed by State and local governments. Not later than 2 years after enactment, and periodically thereafter, the Comptroller General must submit an assessment to Congress. This assessment focuses on identifying program areas and administrative practices that pose risks to the integrity of Federal funds. The report must highlight vulnerabilities related to waste, fraud, abuse, and improper payments. Additionally, the assessment should identify successful strategies and suggest ways to improve Federal tools and resources.
