What this bill would do
This bill establishes the Extraordinary Protection Reimbursement Program within the Department of Homeland Security. The program provides grants to reimburse State, local, Tribal, and territorial governments for protection activities. These activities must be directly and demonstrably associated with non-governmental properties of specific protected persons. Funds can be used for personnel man-hours and specific equipment related to protection. The Act includes oversight through Inspector General audits and annual reporting requirements. It also authorizes $61,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2026, 2027, and 2028.
