What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Veterans Affairs Subcontractor Competition and Opportunity Network Act," requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to create and manage a database. This database will track small businesses certified by the Small Business Administration as being owned and controlled by veterans. It specifically aims to distinguish between veterans and those with service-connected disabilities. The tool is intended to help the Department of Veterans Affairs meet its small business contracting goals. The Secretary must also submit a report to Congressional committees regarding the database's usage and success. Finally, the database mandate is set to sunset on December 31, 2028.
