What this bill would do
This bill stops the automatic pay raises that Members of Congress currently receive. It does this by repealing a specific paragraph of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946. The bill also makes a few technical and conforming updates to clean up the wording in the law. These changes are set to take effect when the 120th Congress convenes. By passing this, our elected officials will no longer get built-in pay bumps without a separate vote.
