What this bill would do
This bill directs the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior to create a formal agreement to coordinate on New World screwworm issues. The goal is to prevent, control, and eradicate the screwworm in wildlife and non-livestock species found on certain Federal lands. These efforts include joint surveillance, monitoring protocols, and response procedures. The agencies must also coordinate with State wildlife and livestock health officers during outbreaks. Finally, the bill requires regular reports to Congress regarding progress and infestation incidents until the threat is quarantined south of the Darien Gap.
