What this bill would do
The National Bridge Funding Reform Act aims to eliminate the Carbon Reduction Program and the PROTECT Program. It replaces these programs with a new national bridge program. This new program is designed to provide support for the construction, replacement, rehabilitation, preservation, and protection of bridges. Funding for this program will be distributed to States based primarily on the total deck area of their bridges. Specifically, 75 percent of the distribution is based on total deck area on Federal-aid highways, and 25 percent is based on the deck area of bridges in poor condition.
