What this bill would do
This bill, known as the Purple Heart Freedom to Work Act, seeks to amend the Social Security Act. It aims to establish a disability benefit offset specifically for Purple Heart recipients. Under this act, individuals entitled to benefits due to a disability linked to a Purple Heart injury would be treated differently regarding their termination month. The bill adjusts how benefits are reduced based on earnings from services. It also modifies the standards for determining an individual's ability to engage in substantial gainful activity.
