What this bill would do
The ``Guaranteeing the States Protection Against Invasion Act of 2026'' seeks to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act. It grants the President the authority to proclaim an invasion exists at the southern border, defined as the international land border between the United States and Mexico. During such a proclaimed invasion, the President shall suspend the entry of any alien who unlawfully enters or attempts to enter across that border. Additionally, those attempting entry during an invasion would be ineligible for certain types of relief or protection to remain in the United States. The Secretary of Homeland Security is authorized to take actions to repel the invasion and remove involved aliens. These special authorities cease once the President issues a proclamation that the invasion has ended.
