What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Improving MA SNP Act of 2026," seeks to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act. The primary goal is to allow more accrediting organizations to approve specialized Medicare Advantage (MA) plans designed for individuals with special needs. It changes the current requirement that these plans be "NCQA approved" to being approved by an accrediting organization. This new process would be based on standards established by the Secretary. For 2026 and future years, any other private accrediting organization with an application approved by the Secretary could be used.
