What this bill would do

This bill, known as the ``January 6th Oral History Project Act'', directs the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress to start an oral history program. The program is designed to collect video and audio recordings of personal histories and testimonials from people present at or affected by the events on January 6, 2021. It also includes the solicitation and collection of written materials like notes, emails, and photographs. These collected items will be organized into a collection available for public use through the National Digital Library. The Director may use partnerships with other government or private entities to complete these tasks. Finally, the bill authorizes specific funding to support these efforts.
