What this bill would do
The Securing Energy Supply Chains Act requires the Secretary of Energy to create an "Energy Non-Procurement List." This list identifies entities engaged in activities that harm the national security, economic security, energy security, public safety, or foreign policy of the United States. The Secretary must prioritize entities involved in the production or processing of critical materials and batteries. The bill prohibits the Department of Energy from entering into or renewing contracts with these identified entities unless no other source is available. It also requires a study to identify overlaps between various government lists regarding foreign entities and sanctioned groups.
