What this bill would do
This bill, titled the "Failed to Uphold the Budget? Allowance: Reduced Act" or the "FUBAR Act," seeks to reduce the pay of Members of Congress. If there is a lapse in appropriations for any Federal agency or department due to a failure to pass a regular appropriations bill or a continuing resolution, pay is affected. During such a lapse, the rate of pay for Members of Congress would be reduced to one dollar per day. This reduction lasts from the first day of the lapse until the end of that session of Congress. The provisions apply to days occurring after the next regularly scheduled general election for Federal office held after the Act's enactment.
