What this bill would do
The Federal Employee Student Debt Transparency Act aims to amend title 5 of the United States Code. It requires specific executive branch employees to disclose their federal student loan debt. This applies to those in the Senior Executive Service and schedule C positions. Employees must provide full statements of principal and interest owed on specific federal loans. Reports must be filed annually and upon assuming a position. The Director of the Office of Government Ethics will then transmit a summary of this debt to Congress.
