What this bill would do
The Rural Recovery Act of 2025 directs the Secretary of Agriculture to establish a program providing technical assistance to rural communities recovering from disasters. This assistance is available to census designated places with populations under 20,000 that are within an area covered by a Presidentially declared major disaster. Technical assistance includes help with planning, submitting applications for funding, addressing application denials, and implementing received funds. The program may cover various needs such as water, energy, housing, and infrastructure. Assistance is generally available for a three-year period following a disaster declaration, though the Secretary can extend this. The bill authorizes $50,000,000 for each fiscal year to fund these efforts.
