What this bill would do
The Puerto Rico Postal Equity Act of 2025 requires the Postmaster General to update United States Postal Service systems to better recognize and preserve address data in Puerto Rico. This includes ensuring the proper use of linguistic characters, such as diacritical marks, in place names and street names. The bill aims to resolve inconsistencies between local addresses and those recognized by federal agencies and private platforms. The Postmaster General must implement these improvements within 180 days of the Act's enactment. Additionally, the official must consult with various local and federal entities to complete these updates. Progress must be reported to Congress annually for three years.
