What this bill would do
This bill is titled the "Community Assent for Refugee Entry Act of 2025." It seeks to place limits on refugee resettlement within certain States or localities. The legislation would amend Section 412 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Under this act, resettlement would be prohibited if a State Governor or State legislature has formally disapproved of it. Similarly, resettlement would be prohibited in any locality where the local chief executive or local legislature has taken action to formally disapprove of resettlement.
