What this bill would do
This bill is known as the Cut the Burden, Keep the Benefits Act. It directs the Chief Counsel for Advocacy of the Small Business Administration to set up a hotline for receiving notifications about burdensome government actions. Within 180 days, the Chief Counsel must operate an email address and website known as the Cut the Burden, Keep the Benefits Hotline. This hotline is for small businesses, small organizations, and small governmental jurisdictions to report government actions affecting them. When notifications involve rules with a significant economic impact, the Chief Counsel must consider regulatory alternatives that minimize the burden. The Chief Counsel must also submit annual reports on the hotline to the Administrator of the Small Business Administration and Congress.
