What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Whistleblowers Aiding National Security Act of 2025," aims to amend the State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956. It seeks to create a new whistleblower incentive program focused on the enforcement of defense exports controls. The program would reward individuals who voluntarily provide original information that results in civil penalties for covered violations. The Secretary of State is tasked with establishing this program through interim and final rules. It also establishes the Defense Export Compliance Accountability Fund to pay for these awards and administrative costs.
