What this bill would do
This bill is called the Caring for Grieving Families Act of 2025. It deals with health insurance coverage for prenatal services when a miscarriage or stillbirth happens. The bill stops health plans from charging more for prenatal care received before a miscarriage or stillbirth than what would have been charged under a standard bundled payment for the birth of a child. It applies to plan years starting on or after January 1, 2027.

Potential Positive Impacts for People
- Section 2 prevents health plans and health insurance coverage from charging individuals any cost sharing requirement, such as deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments, on prenatal services furnished prior to a miscarriage or stillbirth that exceeds the cost sharing requirement that would have applied to the bundled payment had the miscarriage or stillbirth not occurred. This is a positive outcome because it protects grieving families from facing higher out-of-pocket costs for prenatal care when a tragedy occurs.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Based on the provided text, there are no specific sections or provisions identified that create negative consequences or burdens for individuals or groups of people.
