What this bill would do
This bill establishes the Timber Production Expansion Guaranteed Loan Program. The Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior will coordinate to identify Federal land that is a high or very high priority for ecological restoration requiring vegetation removal. The Secretary of Agriculture will then provide loan guarantees to eligible entities. These entities must own or operate a sawmill or wood-processing facility in a rural area. To qualify, the facility must be within a 250-mile radius of the identified Federal land and help decrease the cost of ecological restoration projects. The total amount for these loan guarantees is capped at $220,000,000.
