What this bill would do
This bill is called the Total Force Family Education Act. It aims to make sure that certain families in the military have fair access to Department of Defense Education Activity schools. Specifically, it applies to dependents of certain reserve component members who are performing active service. Under this bill, these dependents can attend the school at the member's permanent military installation. They will automatically get enrolled if the school has enough space. If there is not enough room, they will be put on a wait-list.

Potential Positive Impacts for People
-
Dependents of certain reserve component members performing active service under an order for an accompanied permanent change of station are eligible to attend a school established under section 2164 at the member's permanent station, which helps military families access education (Section 2, adding subsection (n)(1) and (n)(2)).
- Dependents will automatically be granted enrollment at the school at the member's request if there is enough space to accommodate them, making the enrollment process easier for these families (Section 2, adding subsection (n)(1)).
Potential Negative Impacts for People
- If there is not enough space available at the school when the dependent tries to enroll, the dependent will only be placed on a wait-list instead of getting immediate enrollment (Section 2, adding subsection (n)(1)).
