What this bill would do
This bill is known as the Common Repository for Small Businesses Act. It requires the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy to set up a central repository for supplier information within 90 days of the bill becoming law. This repository will hold information commonly needed for the initial vetting of contractors who want to supply products or services to the Department of Defense. The official must work on this in coordination with other efforts from an Office of Small Business Programs to help with things like market research and cybersecurity. The official is also allowed to enter into a public-private partnership or cooperative agreement with defense contractors to help establish the repository if it reduces duplication, saves time for suppliers, or cuts costs for prime contractors qualifying suppliers.
