What this bill would do
This bill, known as the Veteran Service Recognition Act of 2025, focuses on noncitizen members of the United States Armed Forces and veterans. It requires a joint study and report on noncitizen veterans who were previously removed from the country. The legislation sets up an information system and a Military Family Immigration Advisory Committee to review removal cases involving service members, veterans, and their family members. It creates a program to help eligible noncitizen service members apply for citizenship and provides training for military recruiters and legal personnel. Additionally, the bill allows the Secretary of Homeland Security to adjust the status of certain eligible removed veterans to lawful permanent residents and grants similar status adjustments to certain immediate relatives of U.S. citizen service members and veterans.
