What this bill would do

The Data Improvement for Puerto Rico Recovery Act requires a study regarding data gaps faced by Federal agencies that provide grants for Puerto Rico's recovery. The Comptroller General is tasked with submitting a report to specific congressional committees within one year of the Act's enactment. This study must list grants related to specific disasters, such as Hurricanes Irma, Maria, and Fiona, earthquakes, and the COVID-19 pandemic. It also requires an assessment of statistical products used during the grant process and an evaluation of critical data needs. Additionally, the report must describe how data gaps have hindered grant management and identify Federal products that could include Puerto Rico to improve processes.
