What this bill would do
The "Advancing Quality U.S. Aquaculture Act" amends the National Aquaculture Act of 1980 to extend aquaculture programs through 2029. It requires periodic reviews and continuing assessments of U.S. aquaculture at least every 3 years. The bill establishes an Aquaculture Advisory Committee to provide the Secretary with science-based guidance and technical assistance. Additionally, it mandates the creation of catalogs identifying capital constraints and regulatory barriers to commercial aquaculture. Finally, it requires an annual report to Congress on the status of the industry.
