What this bill would do
The Climate Resilient Elections Act aims to prepare election systems for major disasters. It requires certain States to submit and update continuity of operations plans to ensure elections can be successfully administered during a disaster. The bill also directs the Comptroller General to analyze how natural disasters affect voter registration and how the Federal Government can better assist election administration. Additionally, it authorizes the Election Assistance Commission to award grants to States to strengthen voting systems against climate change-driven disasters. These grants can be used for disaster preparedness, training, and improving voting technology.
