What this bill would do
The Disaster Relief Disbursement Accountability Act seeks to amend the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. The bill directs the Administrator to take all necessary actions to ensure funds are disbursed to eligible entities as quickly as possible once a project is approved. This includes funds for the hazard mitigation grant program and various public assistance programs. Additionally, the bill requires recipients of assistance to submit reports regarding the average time taken to disburse funds to subrecipients. These reports include both a retroactive report and ongoing annual reports. Finally, the Administrator must provide a summary of this information to specific House and Senate committees.
