What this bill would do
This bill is called the "Congressional Money Returned to America Act" or the "Congressional MRA Act." It requires any money left over in the Members' Representational Allowance of the House of Representatives at the end of a fiscal year to be put back into the Treasury. These funds would then be used to reduce the federal deficit or the federal debt. The Committee on House Administration is authorized to create regulations to implement this. The law would start applying in fiscal year 2026.
