What this bill would do
This bill is called the Thriving Community Gardens Act. It changes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. The bill lets schools use Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grants to build and take care of school and community gardens. It also requires the Secretary of Education to collect information from local educational agencies that use funds for these gardens. The Secretary must then figure out best practices based on that information. Finally, the Secretary needs to publish and regularly update these best practices on a website for the public to see.
