What this bill would do
The SBIR/STTR Innovation Workforce Act proposes to amend section 9 of the Small Business Act. This change would allow Federal agencies to provide grants or awards to small businesses that have already received Phase II SBIR or STTR awards. These funds would be used to create fellowship and internship opportunities at various educational levels, including undergraduate, baccalaureate, graduate, and postdoctoral. Agencies can provide these awards directly or through partnerships with third parties. The bill also mandates outreach to specific groups and sets limits on the amount of funding that can be used.
