What this bill would do
This bill is called the "District of Columbia Attorney General Appointment Reform Act of 2025." It changes the District of Columbia Home Rule Act so that the President appoints the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. This appointee serves at the pleasure of the President and does not need Senate approval. The appointee's term matches the President's term of office. Additionally, the current Attorney General's service would end on the date the Act becomes law.
