What this bill would do
The "Healthy Servicemembers Act" directs the Secretary of Defense to screen and register military members and their family members who have health conditions caused by unsafe housing units. This includes housing that fails to meet specific quality standards or has dangerous mold pollution. Military medical facilities will handle the screening process. The Secretary of Defense will also maintain a registry to monitor the health of these individuals. Additionally, a public information campaign will be created to explain the registry and its benefits.
