What this bill would do
This bill is known as the Water Crisis Prevention Act of 2025. It requires the Comptroller General to review existing Federal Emergency Management Agency funding that states, localities, individuals, and small businesses can get after a water infrastructure failure, such as a water main break. This review covers both times when an emergency declaration is made and when one is not made. After finishing the study, the Comptroller General must submit a report to Congress. This report will include recommendations for federal entities to partner with states to find areas most at risk of future disasters from water infrastructure failures. It will also include ways Congress could provide funding to fix the water infrastructure that is most at risk of failing.

Section 2(b)(1) requires recommendations for federal entities to partner with states to identify areas most at risk of future disasters caused by water infrastructure failure. This could benefit people by helping stop disasters before they happen in vulnerable neighborhoods.
-
Section 2(b)(2) requires recommendations for ways Congress could provide funding to mitigate disasters by addressing water infrastructure most at risk of failure. This could help people by bringing much-needed money to fix dangerous water systems.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
