What this bill would do
This bill directs the Secretary of Commerce to create the National Manufacturing Advisory Council within the Department of Commerce. The council is tasked with providing a forum for communication between the Federal Government and the manufacturing sector. It will advise the Secretary on policies affecting manufacturing, including the workforce and supply chains. Additionally, the council must produce a national strategic plan annually to help the United States remain a leading destination for manufacturing investment. The group will consist of individuals with diverse backgrounds, including representation from industry, academia, and labor. This council will eventually terminate on September 30 of the fifth year after its first meeting.
