What this bill would do
This bill is called the Easy Returns Act. It requires certain sellers of goods to include a physical, appropriately addressed return label as part of the delivery when they sell physical goods to a consumer. This requirement applies to sellers who employed at least 500 employees in the preceding year. However, the requirement does not apply to perishable goods, custom-made goods, or goods where the seller offers another accessible and convenient return method like a free, scheduled at-home pickup service. The Federal Trade Commission is tasked with issuing regulations for this act and enforcing it as an unfair or deceptive act or practice. The rules will apply to sales happening on or after one year after the bill is enacted.
