What this bill would do
The Access to Homeownership Act requires the establishment of a program where multifamily borrowers with federally backed mortgage loans can report positive rental payments. Under this bill, these borrowers would request consent from residents to report up to 24 months of prior positive rent payments to specific consumer reporting agencies. These reported payments are intended to be considered during mortgage insurance applications. The enterprises would be responsible for covering all administrative costs related to this reporting. Additionally, the Director is required to submit a report to Congress every five years regarding these programs.
