What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Religious Insignia on Dog Tags Act," directs the Secretary of Defense to change certain regulations. The goal is to allow Department of Defense trademarks to be combined with religious insignia on commercial identification tags, or dog tags. These updated tags would then be eligible to be sold by lawful trademark licensees. The Secretary is required to review and update Directive 5535.12 and associated regulations within 90 days of the Act's enactment. Additionally, the update would be applied retroactively to September 13, 2013.
