What this bill would do
This bill directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to implement on-site regulated medical waste treatment systems at certain facilities. The Secretary must first identify facilities that would see cost savings from this change over a five-year period. To do this, a uniform cost analysis model must be developed to compare off-site treatment costs against on-site costs. Once identified, the Secretary is required to secure, install, and operate these on-site systems. The bill also provides a specific definition for regulated medical waste. Finally, no additional funds are authorized for the requirements of this Act.
