What this bill would do
The Groundwater Rise and Infrastructure Preparedness Act of 2025 directs the Director of the United States Geological Survey to map future groundwater rise. These maps will include decadal projections through the year 2100 for coastal areas in the continental United States. The program also involves identifying priority areas at increased risk of flooding. Additionally, the Director must conduct a two-phase study regarding the impacts of groundwater rise on infrastructure and public health. The results of these studies will be used to provide recommendations to Congress and the executive branch.
