What this bill would do
This bill, known as the ``Energy Transitions Initiative Authorization Act of 2025'', directs the Secretary of Energy to create an initiative providing grants for resilient energy systems. The target recipients are remote communities, island communities, and Tribal communities. These grants aim to fund projects such as solar, wind, or hydropower to increase energy security. The Secretary may provide grants of up to $5,000,000 per project, covering up to 90 percent of the cost. The act also includes provisions for technical assistance and required GAO audits. An authorization of $31,000,000 per fiscal year from 2026 through 2030 is requested to carry out these goals.
