What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Jurisdictional Determination Backlog Reduction Act," directs the Secretary of the Army to clear out existing backlogs. It specifically targets applications for permits under section 404 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act and requests for jurisdictional determinations. The Secretary of the Army, acting through the Chief of Engineers, must expedite these procedures. To achieve this, the Secretary is authorized to reallocate or increase personnel and resources within the Corps of Engineers. This action must be initiated not later than 60 days after the Act is enacted. The goal is to eliminate any backlog that exists as of June 5, 2025.
