What this bill would do

This bill, known as the ``Veterans PTSD Screening Act'', directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to conduct a specific study. The study aims to determine if RNA sequencing can effectively diagnose veterans with inflammation or cellular stress, which are symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. The Secretary will carry out this study through the Center for Innovation for Care and Payment of the Department of Veterans Affairs. This research is to take place in medical facilities across five of the Veterans Integrated Service Networks. The study is scheduled to end on September 30, 2027. Finally, a report containing the results must be submitted to the House and Senate Committees on Veterans' Affairs by September 30, 2028.
