What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Public Land Search and Rescue Act," directs the Secretary of the Interior to create a grant program. The program aims to provide resources for remote search and rescue activities occurring on Federal land managed by the Secretary of the Interior or the Secretary of Agriculture. Eligible recipients must submit applications as determined by the Secretary. Priority will be given to those serving areas with a high ratio of visitors to residents. The Federal government's share of costs is capped at 75 percent.
