What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Sergeant Alfredo 'Freddy' Gonzalez Congressional Gold Medal Act," seeks to posthumously award a Congressional Gold Medal to Sergeant Alfredo Gonzalez. The recognition is for his heroism during the Vietnam War in February 1968. The legislation directs the Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate to arrange the award. Following the award, the gold medal is to be given to the Museum of South Texas History for display and research. Additionally, the bill allows for the striking and sale of duplicate bronze medals.
