What this bill would do
This Act, known as the "VA Hospital Inventory Management System Authorization Act," authorizes the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to purchase or develop a cloud-based IT system to manage inventory for the Veterans Health Administration. The Secretary must first run a pilot program at one facility to ensure the system functions satisfactorily before a full rollout. Full implementation must be completed within three years of the Act's enactment. Before starting, the Secretary must submit several required reports regarding supply chain strategy, costs, staffing assessments, and independent assessments of past program failures. Additionally, the Act extends certain limits on payments of pension.
