What this bill would do

This bill, known as the ``Certified Nursing Assistant Workforce Improvement Act'', directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to make changes to training requirements. Specifically, it focuses on adjusting requirements for certified nursing assistants in nursing facilities and skilled nursing facilities. The directive requires a revision to section 483.152(a)(5)(i) of title 42, Code of Federal Regulations. This revision concerns the qualifications of a registered nurse providing general supervision for training. Under this proposal, the nurse must have at least 2 years of nursing experience. This experience requirement applies regardless of whether it was gained in long term care facility services.
