What this bill would do
This bill is called the Foreign Agents Transparency Act. It amends the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938 to make sure that people who used to work as agents for foreign principals still have to register for past activities. It allows the Attorney General to ask a court for an order requiring compliance even after a person has stopped acting as a foreign agent. The bill also requires the Attorney General to submit annual reports to certain congressional committees and interested members of congress detailing enforcement actions taken. These rules apply to individuals who served as agents during the five-year period ending on the enactment date, on the enactment date, or after it.
