What this bill would do
This bill is called the "Promoting Submetering for Affordable Housing Act." It proposes to change the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to increase the low-income housing credit for certain projects. To qualify, a building must have at least 4 units and use water submeters to bill each unit separately. Additionally, tenants must be allowed to read these submeters within 72 hours of a request. For buildings that meet these rules, the eligible basis will be increased to 105 percent.
