What this bill would do
The Green Star Families Act aims to amend title 38 of the United States Code. It proposes the establishment of a specific counseling program for survivors of veterans who die by suicide. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs would be responsible for providing these services at no cost to eligible recipients. Eligible individuals include the next of kin of the deceased veteran and certain former volunteer caregivers. The Secretary is also required to make the program information available through a Department website.
