What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Protect National Service Act," aims to prevent the elimination of the Corporation for National and Community Service. It prohibits the use of federal funds from the American Relief Act, 2025, or any other appropriations, to remove the Corporation's status as a Government corporation. The Act includes findings regarding the economic and community value provided by AmeriCorps and Senior Corps. It also establishes a requirement for the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation to certify compliance with this prohibition. This certification must occur within 30 days of enactment and annually for the following five years.
